ANIME CHARACTERS THAT FOOLED EVERYONE (CRAZY PLOT TWISTS!!)

Not every anime has a character that can fool the audience but the ones who does have an interesting character usually fools us in thinking what they wanted us to think.

So, here's a list of 5 anime characters that fooled everyone. Are you one of them who got fooled?

1) EREN JAEGAR (ATTACK ON TITAN)

Eren Jaeger starts off as the hot-tempered but lovable protagonist of Attack on Titan, before gradually devolving into a state of no return. It can be argued that he has no choice in what he does, because the Attack Titan he possesses basically converges the past, present, and future into one timeline, forcing Eren to make some rather dicey decisions.

Despite near-universal opposition — from the Scouts to Zeke to the Global Alliance — Eren sets off the Rumbling, which inevitably turns into a bloodbath on an Earth-wide scale.

There are dozens of reasons why the Rumbling should have never taken place, but it seems that Eren considers none of them in the throes of his pro-Eldian zealotry. Not even the fact that the Wall Titans would kill people in Paradis is enough to change his mind. Eren may be confused about a lot of things, but his hypocrisy is crystal clear.

Eren's loathsome strategy to get Mikasa to hate him is a temporary success, but the sheer amount of rancor and contempt he exerts to force his point through signifies why fans find him abhorrent.

He asserts that looking at Mikasa "used to piss [him] off like crazy," before delivering the final nail in the coffin — "Ever since we were kids, I've always hated you." None of what Eren says is true; in fact, it's the diametric opposite to how he feels, but audiences utterly despise the way he treats the people who love him more than life itself.

2) LIGHT YAGAMI (DEATH NOTE)

Death Note is a manga series with a main character that is commonly considered to be the villain of the series, rather than the hero. Light Yagami found a mysterious notebook that could kill people whose name was written in it. He used it in hopes to kill as many criminals as possible and become Kira, the god of a better world. Despite having goals that he believed were righteous, many disagreed with him.

Once L, the greatest detective in the world, and the NPA began to investigate, he had to kill people that were getting in his way along with the criminals. He also manipulated and hurt people that cared about him. Light has done some terrible things and these people have suffered greatly because of him.

One of the most beloved characters in the series was L and fans were devastated when he died. L solved many cases throughout his life and was interested in finding out who Kira was. He challenged the killer many times, but it led to his own death. Light pretended to be upset when Rem killed L and was able to replace him in the task force, as all of the other members believed that he wasn't their enemy. Though Light thought that he won and that he would rule the world as Kira, he had no idea that L's true successors would avenge him.

Sayu wasn't the only member of the Yagami family who was hurt by Light. Soichiro never believed that his son could be the murderer he was fighting against and did anything he could in order to prove Light's innocence. After he got Sayu back from the mafia, he made a deal for the Shinigami Eyes in order to kill Mello and get the Death Note back. However, he couldn't bring himself to murder Mello and was attacked.

Since Light didn't own a notebook at the time, Soichiro was able to confirm that Light wasn't Kira, which helped his son. Though he died happily, believing that he was right, he suffered a lot throughout the series and Light never seemed to care about the tragedies he caused his family.

3) ITACHI UCHIHA (NARUTO)

Eventhough the village of Konoha was living in peace when it came to other nations. Uchia clan was always too jealous about shinobis, other than from their clan, taking high seats in the village. And they were really paranoid, unfortunately they had a reason to be.

People on the highest seats always considered Uchiha clan problematic and people like Danzo, and that annoying old pair called “elders”… wanted to get the clan as far from the village as they could.

So the Uchiha clan decided to take over the village, and probably kill the leaders - from Hokage to Danzo and the rest of so called “elders”.

Itachi knew this was coming, and as he hated the war and violence, he wasn’t gonna let that happen. His friend had plan - Shisui wanted to use his exceptional skills with genjutsu and put the whole clan under a visual technique that would somehow explain them it isn’t a good idea (lightly said).

But Danzo partly didn’t trust Shisui’s abilities, was partly jealous of those abilities and lastly he wasn’t gonna let some kid “control” the mind of the most dangerous clan in the village - shortly said he had his reasons, so he attempted to kill Shisui. Almost succeeded.

So one of the two Uchihas who knew what was gonna happen and were trying to avoid it, was out of the game. A year or so passed from Shisui’s dead and Danzo, while partly controling Itachi’s work in the village, got Itachi where he wanted to have him. He even blackmailed Itachi with Sasuke’s life. So the night before the Uchiha’s coup d’etat would happen, Itachi did what he had to do to save the village from yet another war.

That war was avoided with many lifes, some even innocent, but Itachi had to, he didn’t see any other way out of it. Maybe there wasn’t - probably. He always looked after the village even after this incident. He even joined the Akatsuki with purpose of watching over their action towards Konohakagure.

4) LELOUCH VI BRITANNIA (CODE GEASS)

Lelouch, while believing the ends justify the means, also was still comparatively naive at the beginning of the series. While he also used it to further his means, you can also see that he believes in his mission of justice (though definitely not in the purest way). You see this in how he reacts to Shirley’s father’s death.

Lelouch will do anything in his power to achieve his objective, yes. But until later on in the series, he also did everything in his power to minimise casualties. And while he used his Geass when it was needed to further his objectives, he did not wish to do something so needless as to turn other people into his slaves.

What Lelouch himself fears the most is the people by his side being hurt meaninglessly, and situations where he has no control. Even if just subconsciously, I think he would have balked at the idea of putting someone in that situation. Though people who hurt his friends and family are fair game to him. And at the end, he has just lost too much, and sacrificed too much to really care about the morality of Geassing others into following all of his orders blindly.

5) SOSUKE AIZEN (BLEACH)

Kubo Tite's Bleach is known for a lot of things, especially its now-iconic villain Sosuke Aizen. By now, it’s no spoiler to say that Aizen fooled everyone. When he first appeared, no one suspected that the bespectacled captain of the 5th Division would become one of anime’s most legendary foes.

Bleach is all about the Zanpakuto and what abilities they harbor. By the midpoint of the Soul Society arc, majority of the captains and vice-captains’ Zanpakuto were revealed or at least named and teased in Shikai form. However, Aizen died before he even drew his sword. This wasn’t accidental, because Aizen’s Zanpakuto is a game-breaking plot twist.

Aizen wields Kyoka Suigetsu, a Zanpakuto that hypnotizes its targets by manipulating their five senses. He hypnotized all of Soul Society before Bleach even began when he presented Kyoka Suigetsu during his induction ceremony. The sword’s unsheathing near the arc’s end wasn’t done for world-building, but to flip the tables and change Bleach forever.
