TOP 5 CINEMATIC UNIVERSES OTHER THAN MARVEL AND DC (THEY'RE AWESOME)
In field of Cinematic Universe, Marvel and DC have made quite an astonishing reputation. The huge popularity and fandom of these two studios make it look like they're the only two cinematic universes in the world whereas it simply isn't true.
Way before Marvel or DC became popular, there were already a number the cinematic universes in the market that made fortune. So, here's a list for you from our side :-
1) STAR WARS
Star Wars is one the most popular and successful cinematic universe of all time which definitely has made quite a fortune and fandom in the entire globe. This series spans from 9 movies of the Skywalker Saga. From there, we add in the standalone movies like Rogue One, Solo, and the often-overlooked animated inclusion of The Clone Wars. And as much as George Lucas would like us to forget them, we can't ignore that the Star Wars Holiday Special and two Ewok-centric family films also exist. Finally, while The Mandalorian isn't a movie, it's so darn good and so relevant to the wider universe that we can't help but mention it. And while we're on the topic of TV shows, we might as well throw in Clone Wars and Rebels, both of which are still considered canon.
The story of Luke Skywalker and his battle against Darth Vader and his Empire is no doubt, one of the most successful and popular cinematic universes of all times.
Genre - Space Odyssey, Adventure
2) HARRY POTTER
Harry Potter is yet another successful and worldwide recognized cinematic universe. This franchise is based on the Harry Potter Novels written by J.K.Rowling. The original stories has 8 movies based on it and recently, a prequel has also been released which is based on the story before the birth of harry potter.
This universe is the setting of Harry Potter’s adventures as he attends Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, and the dangers he faces as he and his two friends go through seven years of magical education. It’s also filled to the brim with deadly conspiracies, terrifying beasts, and a war against the most demonic wizard (Voldemort) in existence. Friendship, loss, sacrifice, love and destiny are what await any moviegoer who finds themselves drawn into this fantasy world featuring the boy with the lightning-shaped scar.
Genre - Fantasy, Adventure, Magic
3) LORD OF THE RINGS
Although a little more time consuming and slow storyline but definitely worth watching. If it wasn't then it wouldn't have won Oscars 3 times for each part. So, go and enjoy this masterpiece.
Genre - Fantasy, Adventure, Action
4) GODZILLA UNIVERSE
The Godzilla franchise is unique in that it theoretically spans some 75 years, two distinct national film industries, and several reboot iterations. Launched in 1954 with Japan's Toho studio release of Godzilla, the original version of the universe included fellow monsters — also known as "kaiju"— like Rodan and Mothra, who also had their own movies. Since then, the Japanese franchise has expanded to cover 32 straight-up Godzilla films and four separate series (Showa, Heisei, Millennium, and Reiwa), complete with creatures like Megaguirus, Destoroyah, and Biollante.
This franchise has been going on longer and has released more movies than any other entry on our list, spanning from the ‘50s all the way to the 2000s. What do the movies all have in common? Endless Japanese Kaiju action featuring the King of the Monsters. Ranging from light-hearted to bleak, you can almost always expect to see Japanese cities getting demolished, and Godzilla himself facing off against pretty vicious challengers for his title. Whether it’s against Mothra, King Kong or Ghidorah, these films promise you entertainment that only kaiju can bring.
Genre - Fantasy, Adventure, Monsters
5) PIRATES OF THE CARRIBEAN
The adventures of Captain Jack Sparrow and his team will definitely entertain you. With such great graphics and storyline, this universe is worth watching and don't miss the incredible action of Johnny Depp here (He's my favourite personally).
